How The Canine Classroom Can Help you
With the exception of Puppy Level, students progress through their training across a series of levels. As they meet the requirements of each level's standard, they move up to the next class, eventually reaching the level you've set as your target. To prove they've met each level's standard, they need to pass an objective assessment. Many dogs don't pass each level on their first assessment, which doesn't mean they lack the skills; rather, consistency is usually the issue. This is why most of our courses come with a Training Guarantee.

Each course comes with an estimated timeframe to give you an idea of how long it might take for the 'average' dog attending on a regular basis. You can train when it's convenient for you—no restrictive, locked-in time periods. Simply attend as often as you can or want, and achieve your results on your own terms. You're paying for a standard of training, not the number of classes you attend!
Training Guarantee:
Our commitment to you is that you can attend as many classes as needed to progress through each level of training until you achieve the level you joined for! If your dog does not reach the required level within the typical course timeframe, we will continue training your dog at NO EXTRA CHARGE until that level is achieved.

If, for any reason, you are not 100% satisfied, we will refund the cost of your training course (conditions apply). Ryan
After spending 6 years in the Army, Ryan started his dog training journey in 2014. Ever since then Ryan has been a part of The Canine Classroom as an instructor, and as the senior trainer at The National Canine Academy boarding school. Ryan recently took ownership of The Canine Classroom in July 2022, and is enjoying spending time helping dog owners in private lessons and walk & trains. Ryan loves instructing classes, but his speciality is working with dogs that are human or dog aggressive, and in the last 10 years has personally trained over 15,000 dogs!
Ryan started his dog training journey in 2014. Lauren
Since joining in 2021, she has served as the operations manager while also teaching group classes, conducting walk-and-train sessions, and offering private lessons. Having grown up with a variety of dog breeds—including Poodles, Pomeranians, and Border Collies—she developed a special affection for German Shepherds, particularly those her uncle brought home from the police force.
Tegan
Tegan is a dedicated canine educator with over three years of experience at The Canine Classroom, where she is honing her skills in dog training and behaviour modification. Prior to this role, she worked as a veterinary nurse and kennel hand for four years. Tegan specializes in teaching weekend classes for all age groups, from playful puppies to more advanced controlled obedience.
What will I need to bring to training?
All you need to bring is yourself, your dog, and their normal equipment. Please don't purchase extra equipment for the session - we will go through equipment requirements with you! We also encourage you to bring along some tasty treats to reward your dog for good behaviour during the session.
What happens if I miss a class?
No problem! All our skills work on a 4-6 week cycle - meaning whatever you miss one week, will soon be caught up on a few weeks later. Once your dog can demonstrate competency in all skills - you are ready for the next level!
From what age can I start training my dog?
We take puppies from as early as 8 weeks. This is the most important part of your dogs life (known as the critical period for socialisation), and we encourage responsible socialisation as soon as possible - BEFORE the end of the vaccination period! We will talk about why and how to do this during the free first timers session.
Can you teach an old dog new tricks?
Of course! While some things may be more difficult as they are bigger and stronger, many older dogs also have the benefit of being mature and have better developed impulse control, so you may find some things easier.

Private Lessons
Does your dog need some focussed professional attention? Do they need to break some old habits? Private lessons provide a personalised training regime to suit your exact requirements. We come to you!
Walk & Train
Let our professional trainers combine your pets's exercise with a training session. It's a great way for your pet to get much needed exercise & stimulation while improving their skills. Perfect for time-poor owners! Available every day.
Group Classes
Your weekly 1-hour training session. You can join at any time, and your dog will start in a class appropriate to their level. As your dog passes assessments, they will progress to different classes. Class sizes limited to 15 dogs.
Assessments
To move through the levels your dog will pass formal assessments. During each assessment they'll objectively demonstrate they have met the required skills for that level. Assessments are held regularly against a list of criteria.
Renee
Renee is our newest trainer, after coming from a background of running her own dog walking and pet sitting business for 8 years, and then later working in dog daycares. Renee can be found at our Brisbane group classes where she is just moving into an instructor role, and is also responsible for many of our walk & train sessions during the week!

Nicole joined “The Canine Classroom” in 2019 as admin support after starting the NDTF course. These days, Nicole’s life is all things dog. From training other people’s pets to hitting the sports field in various disciplines with her own, her skill set and understanding of what makes dogs tick has really grown.

That same year, I enrolled in and completed the NDTF Dog Training Program. Since then, I’ve been passionately involved with the team, and can often be found on Sunday’s running admin.
